Burton is a Principal in Mumford Company’s Atlanta office. He has consistently produced strong sales results since joining the Mumford team in 2006.
During his sales tenure with Mumford Company, Burton has been involved in the sale of 130+ properties representing aggregate volume approaching $250 million across all product types throughout the United States. His practice focuses primarily on the mid-market, extended stay and economy segments of the industry, with a concentration in the Southeastern region of the United States.
Prior to joining Mumford Company, Burton worked in Franchise Licensing with Intercontinental Hotels Group. In this role with IHG, his primary task was to assist franchisees through the change of ownership process. Burton also worked with his IHG team members in facilitating the process of renewing licenses on existing properties. He interacted with individual and institutional hotel owners on single asset and multi-unit portfolio transactions across the Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express and Crowne Plaza brands.
Before his tenure at IHG, Burton was employed in a variety of operational and sales positions at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation resort. This “hands on” experience and knowledge are real assets which allows Burton to better serve and better understand the challenges that face his clients and customers.
Burton is a graduate of Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Management. This program gave him a chance to gain in-depth knowledge of marketing, operations, finance and economics within the hospitality industry and provides a solid foundation for Burton’s growth within the business. In addition to his undergraduate work at Auburn, Burton has completed coursework in real estate and finance at the Cornell University and the Urban Land Institute.
